Chief Inspector (警部/警備課長, Keibu/Keibi Kachō), also known as the Bridge Police Commander (Onbetsu Bridge blockade's [Police] Commander), was a police commanding officer with the Tokonosu Police Forces. He was in charge of the security checkpoint at the Onbetsu Bridge.
About[]
Bridge Police Commander is a veteran police officer of the Tokonosu Police Forces. He was the officer in charge of setting up a blockade at the western side of the Onbetsu Bridge during the initial outbreak. Later at night on the same day, and arguably "following" the orders from HQ, he reluctantly and publically executed the leader of the protesters, and then subsequently committed suicide.
Appearance[]
Bridge Police Commander has black hair in the manga and grey hair in the anime, and black/grey eyes. He wears the male standard uniform of the Tokonosu Police Department, which consists of a white shirt, black necktie, greyish blue jacket and trousers, black shoes, and a black and greyish blue police service cap specifically donned with an all-around golden rim signifying his rank of Chief Inspector. He carries an issued Smith and Wesson M37 revolver, and the sidearm is attached to his issued black police duty belt with a black lanyard.
History[]

Bridge Police Commander and his family, before crisis.
Not much is known of his history except that he has spent some considerably lengthy years in the Tokonosu Police Forces, and has earned honors as a high ranking police officer. He is also the husband and father of a seemingly happy family. Their daughter seems to be either just graduated from middle school and entering highschool, or has just graduated from highschool entirely.
Personality[]
Not much is known about his personality except that he had the ability to manage considerably large number of personnels, both colleagues and strangers (civilians) included, as well as the perseverance to achieve the rank of Chief Inspector. A family photo of his showed (presumably by the genuine smiles from all 3 individuals in said photo) that he is possibly a caring and loving husband and father. Unfortunately, he was still ultimately limited by his personal mental stability when it is being tested at the insane extremes of levels, thus choosing to commit suicide.
Plot[]
Act.6 & Episode 06: In the DEAD of the night[]
During the initial lockdown of the western side of the Tokonosu City, there was a number of subordinates with the Bridge Police Commander, including his second-in-command Assistant Inspector. He organized the blockade into 3 sections-Section-1: Command center (western "uninfected" side of the city); Section-2: Quarantine zone (middle of the bridge); and Section-3: Frontline first contact biohazard zone (eastern "infected" side of the city). It had a sturdy setup consisting of: numerous amount of officers including SAT and Riot Response teams, numerous police patrol vehicles, a few riot control armored vehicles with water cannons, several armored police buses, several bulldozers and forklifts, and numerous amount of jersey barriers/concrete step barriers. Likely due to his experienced efforts, orders were well-maintained at the Onbetsu Bridge throughout the day, especially when in comparison to the already ongoing chaos at the Tokonosu Bridge.
However, later at night, without any reinforcements, he received orders through police radio communication to uphold the orders at the bridge "with any means necessary", and to an extent, to use "deadly force". Despite the solid efforts during the day, chaos began to befall with the arrival of a group of Conspiracy Theory protesters who believes the epidemic is a biological weapon of the US and Japanese governments, followed by a large hordes of "them" coming from the eastern side of the city. Before he could give out the orders to do so, other panicking police officers started to open fire at the incoming hordes of "them". Extreme tensions continued to build up.
After failing to negotiate with the leader of the protesters to calm down, and even though it is heavily against his own will, he nonetheless performed extreme prejudice to the latter, executed and killing him. Soon after, likely due to the mix of the extreme tension from the unworldly "them"-apocalypse, immense stress and pressure, PTSD, and possibly guilt, he chose to end his own life with a bullet from his revolver to his head. It is unknown what exactly happened at the site after his dismissal, but from the looks of things before the final fadeout, (as well as factoring in the soon-to-be EMP outburst,) it is safe to assume that things went out-of-control and the blockade was eventually overran, with "them" inevitably entering the western side of the city.
Trivia[]
- His official police rank was Chief Inspector, which is the equivalent of department head or squadron commander, a.k.a. the middle management.
- A sad side note: law enforcement occupants hold the 3rd highest suicide rates of all jobs in the world, due to job-related stress/PTSD.
